We are fine

First of all I should say that we are all fine. Last night was a little scary, but nothing happened to us or to our house.

I slept in Gabriel's room to keep him company, and poor Alfredo was alone in our bedroom. Alfredo and I dind't sleep much. The winds and the rain were very strong. Gabriel, on the other hand, slept perfectly, but he woke up at 5:00am wanting attention, and we had just managed to fall asleep...

Around our neighbourhood the only things that suffered damage were the fences. Here you can see what happened to the fence between our backyard and the park. The plants are a little beaten, but I think they will recover. I should say that Alfredo didn't want me to take (much less post) this picture, but I believe Gabriel should have something to remember Rita by. We didn't even lose power, although we lost the cable connection this morning for a couple of hours. The phones are working, although I think it is very hard for people from outside Lafayette to get through. Don't worry, we are perfectly fine!

Hurricane Rita

Even though Rita is coming this general way, it is not supposed to hit us. We are home, and classes have been cancelled. We are all fine, and have all the supplies we will need for a week or more.
Here are a couple of pictures of Gabriel looking through the window today.

I am back!

I am finally back from my trip to Ottawa, Canada. I went there to give an invited talk at Carleton University. It went great. I missed Gabriel very, very much, and called home around 6 times (in one day), but he and Alfredo seemed to be very well without me... :(

Gabriel and Alfredo were very happy to see me yesterday, and Gabriel breastfed every hour until he went to sleep. He also slept wonderfully, from 7pm until 7:45am! And since he didn't wake me up early I got to work late today... Luckily I don't have classes early.

First time away from mom...

Today I am leaving the country without Gabriel... :(

I will come back the day after tomorrow, but I am still going crazy about it. He is staying with his dad, and I am sure he will be fine, but I think I won't... I hope tomorrow goes by very fast.

Mr. Explorer

Gabriel is now crawling and getting into everything! We have baby-proofed the house, but he always finds something we didn't think about... He can even stand up (helping himself with the furniture) and get to places we didn't think he could. But what can I tell you, it's wonderful! Now he can play a lot more and we have lots of fun together.

Colonia Tovar

Here are some pictures from Gabriel's trip to La Colonia Tovar in August. Notice the first time ever he sat on grass!

Hello!

I have just looked at a baby blog and immediately I thought that Gabriel should have one too. So here it comes. I don't promise to write much, since I don't have much time (7 month old baby and a full time job), but I promise I will try to keep the pictures updated.
Enjoy!
